Whisky & Bar Experiences
The hotel operates two bar spaces: the main bar serving signature cocktails and a dedicated whisky lounge called 'Towser's Lounge' opened in 2024. Towser's Lounge stocks over 200 scotch whiskies and hosts tastings most days, led by resident expert Tony. Guests can purchase whisky flights and individual drams, or book a private tasting session with Tony, a self-taught connoisseur.
Art & Design
The entire hotel functions as an ever-changing art gallery, with the owner's personal collection displayed in halls, stairways, and guest rooms. Each of the 14 rooms is individually decorated with original artworks and Murano glass chandeliers. The building is a Grade A listed Georgian townhouse retaining original architectural elements such as high ceilings and period cornicing.
Rooms & Amenities
All 14 rooms are accessed by stairs (no lift) and are furnished with premium Egyptian cotton linen, luxurious bathrobes, and Dyson fans or tower fans. In-room technology includes Smart-TVs with on-demand streaming, an HD soundbar, and Apple Airplay. Several rooms offer well-appointed kitchenettes, and the junior suite on the first floor provides a roll-top bath and garden view.
Dining & Breakfast
Breakfast is served until 12pm in the dining room and includes a choice of Full Scottish, eggs Benedict, homemade porridge, and fresh pastries made on-site. The bar offers a snack menu and a cheese platter available until late evening. Guests with dietary restrictions (gluten-free) receive pre-informed substitutions and are personally ensured by staff.
Location & Grounds
The hotel sits on Royal Terrace, a quiet cobbled street at the foot of Calton Hill within a UNESCO World Heritage site. Private garden space at the rear allows guests to unwind with drinks or tea, and the street provides direct access to the Calton Hill viewpoint and a 15-minute walk to Holyrood Palace. Edinburgh Waverley Station is a 14-minute walk away, and the nearest tram stop (York Place) is a 10-minute walk.
